@LibraryOfDreaming’s Book Review:

Do you guys ever take #Bookstagramphotos as a way to motivate yourself to actually READ the books on your shelf?⁣

THE WHISPERING DARK was published in 2022 and I preordered this fab special edition from @OwlCrate. After a year of procrastination I took this photo and finally got enough inspiration to read it! Of course, now it’s taken me yet another year to write a review…⁣

THE WHISPERING DARK is a dark fantasy about a Deaf college student with a magical connection to death who meets a strange figure from her past and unlocks her university’s secrets.⁣

As you may know, I’m a bit of a wimp when it comes to horror but I enjoyed the dark academia atmosphere of this book. The author describes how the main character interacts with her world and her magic in a really interesting and evocative way. ⁣

I wasn’t particularly moved by the romance, but I liked the fantasy and mystery elements. I was worried the author wouldn’t be able to provide a satisfying wrap up with just a stand alone book, but it all worked out in the end. Overall, I’m glad I can finally check this book off my TBR list and find a use for this photo!⁣
