January’s Discussion Post: Six of Crows + Buddy Read Sign Ups

[ID: Two books, one embossed in red and the other in gold, laying on a gray wooden floor with four red roses. Black tulle curves along the red book. Both books have illustrated silhouettes of ravens, daggers, playing cards, and wolves. Two prop daggers crisscross under a white card that says, “Chronically Iconic Book Club EST 2021”.]

The heart is an arrow. It demands aim to land true.

It’s time for the discussion for the Chronically Iconic Book Club‘s January Read: Six of Crows by Leigh Bardugo!

Our discussion via group chat will take place on Instagram starting today through Jan 31st. Don’t forget one lucky participant will win this print by EnchantedExtrasbyBri on Etsy. Let me know in the comments of this post if you’d like to join!

@libraryofdreaming’s mini review:

This was my third (!) time reading this book and I still absolutely loved it. The characters are fascinating, the fantasy world is wonderful, and I loved all the painful romances. It’s refreshing to see a disabled character like Kaz who is morally gray, deeply complicated, and also completely epic. I honestly wish Leigh Bardugo had written 10 books in this series so we could get even more time with these characters!

Discussion Questions:

  1. What did you rate this book? Did you like it?

  2. What was your favorite part of the book?

  3. What was your least favorite part?

  4. Who was your favorite character?

  5. What did you think of the portrayal of Kaz’s disability? Did it seem plausible and realistic to you?

  6. What was your favorite character dynamic? (Ex: Kaz and Inej or Nina and Inej, etc.)

  7. What character or character relationship do you wish we saw more of?

  8. Which characters (if any) did you ship? (a.k.a. are you rooting for any particular romance?)

  9. Was there any plot twist or backstory that surprised you?

  10. Is there anything about the book you would change?

  11. Bonus question just for fun: if you joined a heist, what would your role be? (Demolition? Wraith? Mastermind?)

Want to continue with the series and read the sequel Crooked Kingdom?

Drop me a line in the comments or contact @libraryofdreaming to join our buddy read! Since Crooked Kingdom is CHUNKY our final discussion will probably take place in March and it will be less formal than our main group.

Happy Reading!
