[ID: a red embossed book with figures of crows, wolves, daggers, hearts, and guns laying on a gray wooden floor surrounded by scrabble tiles spelling “bookclub”, a dagger, raven candles, red carnations, and a gold teacup with a raven pattern.]

I’m happy to announce that our read for January is Six of Crows by the amazing Leigh Bardugo!⁣

Six of Crows was the first book with disability representation I ever read and related to, so I’m thrilled to read it again with the group!

Synopsis:

Six of Crows by Leigh Bardugo

Genre: YA Fantasy

Representation: Chronic Pain & Cane user rep (own voice)
Content warnings: graphic violence, death, human trafficking, and fantasy drug use⁣

(Please note that this is a spin off series and while I don’t think it’s necessary to have read the Shadow & Bone trilogy first, this book does contain spoilers for that series.⁣)

Discussion Dates: January 29 - 31

⁣⁣Ketterdam: a bustling hub of international trade where anything can be had for the right price—and no one knows that better than criminal prodigy Kaz Brekker. Kaz is offered a chance at a deadly heist that could make him rich beyond his wildest dreams. But he can’t pull it off alone.⁣

A convict with a thirst for revenge. A sharpshooter who can’t walk away from a wager. A runaway with a privileged past. A spy known as the Wraith. A Heartrender using her magic to survive the slums. A thief with a gift for unlikely escapes.⁣

Kaz’s crew is the only thing that might stand between the world and destruction—if they don’t kill each other first. ⁣
