Discussion Post for Lakelore by Anna-Marie McLemore

[ID: a light teal book with two nonbinary teens on the cover with brown skin and butterflies in their hair. They’re surrounded by rainbow colored waves with the title spelled out in white text. The book sits on a white shelf with a stack of books with their spines showing behind it and an arc of purple carnations over the book from left to right. Light green fake greenery sits to the right with a pair of gold rings, a white triangle necklace over the book, and a white geode to the left of the book.]

Hi bookish friends! It’s time to discuss the #ChronicallyIconicBookClub’s April read LAKELORE by Anna-Marie McLemore!⁣

This was such a dreamy, unusual, and poignant fantasy read that I found it hard to narrow it down to 10 regular questions… I feel like this book can’t be quantified in an average discussion so I look forward to hearing your thoughts in whatever form (even if they’re just a random stream of consciousness)!⁣

Our discussion via Instagram group chat will begin tomorrow April 27th at around 1pm EST and continue through Monday April 29th at our own pace. Let me know on Instagram if you’d like to join! Everyone is welcome! ⁣

Here are 10 official discussion questions that you can answer at your leisure if you’d prefer. ⁣

Discussion Questions:

  1. What did you think of this book? (How many stars did you rate it?)

  2. What was your favorite part of the book?

  3. What was your least favorite part?

  4. What themes/moments/vignettes in the book stuck out to you? (This can be just ~vibes or particular quotes or whatever you think of)

  5. What did you think about Bastián and their development throughout the book?

  6. What did you think about Lore and their journey throughout the book?

  7. What did you think about the setting and fantasy elements of this book?

  9. What did you think about the romance?

  10. Was there anything you wish was different/anything about the book you would like to change?

I’ve been dealing with some medical things this month so I haven’t been able to facilitate a vote for our May read yet. I think I may need to take a little break and catch up with you all later but please send me your suggestions for what we should read next!⁣

Let’s plan to meet again in June. Sending you all my best wishes! Happy Reading!⁣
